A.C. Valdez has years of experience as a producer for public radio. Currently a producer for America Abroad, he’s worked for The Kojo Nnamdi Show, Tell Me More, and All Things Considered, among other shows. He is also a member of the inaugural class of PublicMediaCorps fellows. Born in Los Angeles, he grew up in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. He occasionally teaches media workshops with CentroNía, a local community center and home to DC Bilingual Public Charter School. He speaks Spanish pretty well and just a little bit of Mandarin.
When he’s not producing media or teaching, A.C. writes for DCSka.com and plays guitar with The Originators. His past band, led by DC Ska heroine Caz Gardiner, was The Thrilltones He’s a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.
